BLOGGING IS DEAD

Sike!

I'm joking.  There are plenty of people doing their thing. I just haven't been finding the inspiration for posts recently. I've also been busy working all the time then getting last minute calls to dj. And I'd rather not go ahead and post what everyone else does just to keep material on the page. So many cats already have the same material on them. Maybe it's a blog 'genre' thing. But you can generally tell what the source of most of the material is. It seems like everybody wants to be like Nahright et. al by stealing from them and posting as quick as possible. Or they just want to put something quick and easy on the page. Last week approximately 80 million people posted about Pharrell wearing vans instead of Bapes.  You don't come to this blog for that. Come here cause "I'm me.  So who are you?!?!" (c) Lil' Wayne...

Still...

I can't stay stagnant. The show must go on. So here are a couple gems that I feel like have been flying under the radar from the hipster/cool-guy bloggers:

De Tropix...

I saw this group on blogs before when they put their first EP out for free, but the buzz was still relatively quiet. I'm even suprised they didn't get more shine from the vocalist's affiliation with M.I.A. That may be because Santi is blowing up (deservedly because she has all the talent) and the spotlight is on her. Even still, this joint should've got some shine somewhere...

Also...

I'm a little annoyed at the lack of success the Bread Back riddim has been having. It's dope, and I haven't really found it anywhere that people can buy it from. I never got any promo emails for it. It wasn't on Digiwaxx or anywhere. I had to search for it and download it myself. Let this be a lesson: if you like dancehall reggae, don't go to reggae clubs, or aren't on reggae forums/blogs all the time, make sure you check in to Chris Goldfinger's BBC radio 1 reggae shows. BBC murks all the other internet radio stations. Giles Peterson? GTFOH. His show always sends me digging for the stuff they put in their programming.

Finally...

I really need an MP3 of 'Go Round Payola' by Jah Dan ASAP. Check it out here or here. The cats at Dutty Artz never respond to my emails or myspace message. I'll buy the song. Just let me know something y'all.

The mini electro-ragga movement is pretty cool by the way. 77 Klash sounds like some cacophonous non-sense but some definate heaters have been popping up here and there. The cat Eddie Stats calls it 'Trancehall' and DJ Rupture from Dutty Artz wants to call it NY Tropical. I can roll with NY Tropical, but I don't know about 'Trancehall'.
