
If you want to get into the spirit of celebration followed by a visit to the city of Cork is a must! With a few inexpensive direct flights from places like Dublin, Belfast, London, Manchester and the UK and many European destinations, there really is no excuse for not visiting for a while. The Christmas Festival Cork is full of events of this year, so take a closer look at what to expect.
One of the highlights of the holiday season each year in Cork Cork is on ice. It takes place at the Marquee in Cork Docklands (near Pairc Ui Chaoimh) and runs from December 13 to 17 enero, 2010. New on the ice this year is curling ice – Is similar to "ice bowls", but simply more fun! Check the website of Cork on the ice for more.
The Christmas lights will be officially in Bishop Lucey Park on November 29. For the festival, the Grand Parade will become a wonderful haven of the Christmas markets and stalls, while Bishop Lucey Park is illuminated by magic and called the Park of Dreams. "The park will be created by Peter Kelly of Franco's girlfriends, is bound to be spectacular!
"A Christmas Celebration of the Grand Parade will have Christmas markets, where everything from food to crafts can be purchased (this is a great place to collect a few loads of storage!). There will be plenty of entertainment in the form of carol singers and bands playing Christmas songs for you in festive mood. The Christmas party at the Grand Parade will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays every weekend in preparation for Christmas, from November 27.
Of course, Christmas would not be complete without a Christmas pantomime! Cork has not one but two pantomimes taking place. Aladdin takes place in the Palace Cork Everyman on Saturday Dec. 5 through Sunday, Jan. 10. However, if you like "Jack and the Beanstalk", head of the Cork Opera House, showing from 12 December to 10 January.
"Hunting is a tradition die Wren in Ireland … almost! In the small town of Carrigaline, just south of the city of Cork, this tradition lives on.
