What places to visit in Washington DC?

My friend and I made a 4-5 day trip to Washington DC this summer. He wanted to know some places people suggested a visit. I'm loyal to places that are easily accessible on foot, by bus or metro. (Place near the White House, Smithsonian museums, etc.) But what I hear, everything you want to see in DC is pretty close to each other, and I do not have to go to these places. Thanks!

It depends on what you are interested in. The buildings are an obvious choice for most people and are within walking distance of each other. The Washington Monument, require Free tickets are distributed on the same day from 8:00. You can also get online for a small fee. The Smithsonian museums have a wide variety of pieces is the natural history, American history, American Indian buildings, African and Asian art, modern art and contemporary Arts and Crafts, and architecture and the air and space. There is much to worry depending on what your interests. There is also the Kennedy Center (tours, shows), the Visitors Center Capitol, the Botanic Gardens, White House Visitor Center, the National Archives (arrive early!). Paid museums, including Spy Museum, the Museum of Crime and repression and the Newseum. This market is a good little art market on the morning of Sunday and a great place to get a sandwich of soft-shell crab. U High near sale street food at Ben's Chili Bowl and drinks at the Gibson. All these are more accessible by subway and is within walking distance of each other.
