Perhaps the most often asked question I hear is: "So what's it worth?" The question refers to the May document a vessel of four languages, signed by James Madison and James Monroe, a signed photograph of movie star and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, or a handwritten letter by the General Union (posthumously promoted) Samuel K. Zook. It is often an innocent for a ball, "the figure of the park at one point. As a professional appraisal is difficult to formulate a simple answer, in a word.

Each element has many different values. The Madison / Monroe document, for example, be shown to have at least four different settings – and everyone will correct. How can this be? Depends market.

You're probably familiar with the term "market". A market is a place or a system exchange of goods between buyers and sellers. A market may be a mall or a flea market. It may be a sale in bankruptcy, liquidation or catalog of mail order. The Internet and other online services are contracts for the purchase and sale of goods. The "value" to that sold the item may be different in each market. The term "fair market value" is a legal definition used in a variety of cases. Gift of charity, the dissolution of marriage or inheritance tax liability may be circumstances in which required the fair market value. "Fair" is not "reasonable." The term "market" fair " comes from the old English law, which is open and free as a "market" or "fair", where goods are bought and sold.

The value May will be very different from the value of sales. In situations where someone is interested in securing an item, a replacement cost of retailing may be the most adequate. All this seems rather confusing, but once you identify the reason for which you want to know "what is its value, a value can be provided. The reason that "we need to know" refers to the recognition that the "function" of the evaluation. Also called the "normal use" or "fate allotted. With namely, the" use "the market may be considered appropriate.

Wide range of luxury markets, high quality, retail galleries autographs for flea markets and garage sales. Different qualities and types of material can be found in any market What. An example is that of several million dollars Dunlap copy of the Declaration of Independence was found behind the old and the series in a garage sale.

Here are some examples of situations in which the value depends on the "use" or "necessity". The market survey is based on the use and the required value.

If the report is based on obtaining insurance coverage, the assessment will determine the estimated replacement cost. Market research is the gallery where bought the item.

If the function of the report is to wind up a company in bankruptcy, the assessment will determine the liquidation value. The market is the courthouse.

If the function of the report is creating a potential tax deduction for a charitable donation, the evaluation will determine fair market value of value. Market is more likely an auction of the properties listed.

Book as an example, we will use Madison / Monroe boat tongue. If the owner and the insurance company should know what it will replace the product with a similar piece, an evaluator can obtain information about its source, the gallery where they were acquired. The estimated replacement cost in half in the luxury market is $ 7,500.00. This may be a valid value for this need.

If that same owner has filed for bankruptcy and the U.S. bankruptcy court judge ordered the sale of the topic, can save $ 1,200.00. This may be a valid value for this situation.

If the owner has decided to donate to the National Archives, which could be worth $ 3350.00. This may be a valid value for this purpose assessment .

Finally, if the owner of the gallery was stripped of his insurance company would pay compensation to its cost. This value could be $ 1750.00. Perhaps a precise value of this
situation.

As you can see, the same element that has four different values. Each may be right and appropriate for "normal use" and "end" assessment. There is more to determining the value of the choice of a price. Who provides the values must include autographs, manuscripts, historical documents, and the market, and the right to ask the question: "What's it worth?"
